Sarah Standring Simpson was born on Jan 26, 1818 in Rochdale, England to Richard and Elizabeth Standring Simpson. Sarah is a Pioneer of Richmond.
The early history of Sarah is unknown. Sarah married Joseph Bradbury on Aug 12, 1839 in Manchester, England. In 1848, Missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints visited the Bradbury family. The family was converted to the Church, and Sarah was baptized a member of the Church on March 15, 1848. Soon after, the Bradbury family prepared to move to the United States of America to join the rest of the Saints.
The Bradbury family had to split in order for them all to make it to the US. Sarah and her daughter Elizabeth left first. They left Liverpool on May 30, 1866 on the Arkwight, arriving in New York City, New York on July 6. They continued on boat and train to Wyoming, Nebraska Territory and joined the Daniel Thompson Company on July 24, 1866. They arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 28.
While in the Salt Lake Valley, Sarah worked as a housekeeper for Dimick B. Huntington. Two years later, Sarah's son Charles Roberts made it across the ocean and plains. However, Joseph became dissatisfied with the Church and left soon before Charles left for Utah.
Sometime in 1869 or 1870, Sarah and Charles moved to Richmond where Elizabeth lived with her husband Thomas Titensor. On March 11, 1872, Sarah married Beason Lewis, becoming his second wife and entering him into the practice of polygamy.
In 1894, Sarah broke her leg which resulted in her quickening in age. Sarah Standring Simpson died on Nov 4, 1897 in Cove. She was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
