William Beers was born June 28, 1843 in Newtown, Connecticut to Simeone Nicholas and Ann Eliza McEwen Beers. William is a Pioneer of Richmond. William served as the first City Recorder from 1868-1876, and the third Mayor of Richmond from 1876-1879.
The Beers family lived in Newtown, Connecticut for many years, with William being the eighth generation to live in the city. The Beers family moved to Chicago, Illinios for work, where William began working in the cattle business. While driving some cattle to an army camp in Utah, William was inspired by the example of the Pioneers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and joined the Church in 1868.
After moving to Utah, William married Delia Cathrine Dennis Aug 8, 1868 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Soon after, they moved to Richmond.
William Beers served as the third Mayor of Richmond from 1876-1879. Due to pore recording, little information was preserved about William Beers' Mayoral Term.
He was succeeded by Alvin F. Stewart.
While working in the cattle business, William Beers died Nov 21, 1894 in Blackfoot, Idaho in a horse-riding accident. He was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
