Sarah Anne Lavender was born March 21, 1824 in Bedford, England to James and Mary Ann Smith Lavender. Sarah is a Pioneer of Richmond.
History
The Lavender family was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ by Missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1838 by Church Apostle Willard Richards. Some members of the family began their expedition to the US in 1841, boarding the U.S Echo. They went through New Orleans, Louisiana to get to Nauvoo, Illinois.
Sarah married William Bateman on July 24, 1843 in Augusta, Iowa. They moved to Missouri in 1846, and moved West in 1849. After some time in the Salt Lake Valley, the family was called to move south to settle in what is now Ceder City, Utah. They moved from Ceder City to Richmond in 1860 and lived the rest of their lives there.
Epilogue
Sarah Anne Lavender died July 11, 1898 in Fairview, Idaho. She was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
