Charles Franklin Aylworth was born Feb 20, 1910 in Richmond to Charles Parker and Martha Ann Hendricks Aylworth. Franklin was a veteran of World War II, dying in action.
Franklin was raised in Cache Valley before moving to California. In 1940, Charles moved to Alaska, stationed at Ladd Army Airfield.
Charles Franklin Aylworth died Feb 11, 1943 in Tinian, Northern Mariana Islands. He was buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii. At the time of his death, he reached the rank of Captain. Franklin's mother relates:
"They need to a good man over seas to take charge of shipping cargo. Frank had done this work before so they sent him. Frank and Ann (his wife) stopped in to see me on their way to Oregon. I was feeling bad because he was going and he said, 'Don't feel bad because if I had stayed at Camp Roberts six months longer I would have been dead.' He had been over seas three weeks when we received word that he had been killled. I tried to be brave but it was too much for me. My health broke down..."1
