Rudolph Albert Anderson was born Oct 13, 1896 in Richmond to Knut Albert and Ida Wilhelmina Ericksson Anderson. Rudolph was a veteran of World War I.
As a young boy, Rudolph would wake up very early before anyone else in the family and perform exercises and do household chores. During the winter, he would help his father with the family ice cream business. In 1914, the Anderson family purchased a farm in Holbrook, Idaho lived between Richmond and Holbrook for many years.
On Sep 3, 1918, Rudolph was inducted into World War I and assigned to the 146th Field Artillery. As part of the 146, he trained both field artillery and cavalry so he could fill in for either one.
"Our unit was set to be shipped overseas within a week when the news came that the war was over. It was disappointing in a way, but good news in another. We were all wishing that we had gotten shipped out before the good news came. We still had to stay at Camp Kerney for about a month before we were shipped to Camp Presidio in San Francisco, California to be mustered out. This took about a month, so we had a chance to look over that city too and also take a ferry over to Oakland. I left for home the first part of March [1919]. It sure felt cold at home after being used to California weather."
Soon after his military service, Rudolph moved to Malad, Idaho. Rudolph Albert Anderson died Nov 17, 1978 in Provo, Utah. He was buried in the Sandy, Utah Cemetery.
