Walter Peter Monson was born June 30, 1875 in Richmond to Christian Hans and Ellen Persson Monson. Walter served as a Mission President for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Very little is recorded about Walter's life. Walter married Leona Smart Parkinson on Nov 6, 1895 in Logan, Utah. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Franklin, Idaho.
Northwestern States
Walter served his first mission on Jan 25, 1898 to the Northwestern States (Pacific) Mission. He was set apart as a member of the Seventy by Apostle Marriner W. Merrill. Walter served most of his time in Oregon. He was released on Feb 15, 1900.
British Mission
Walter served his only foreign mission on March 18, 1909 to the British Mission, along with his family. He served until April 11, 1911.
Eastern States Mission President
On Oct 11, 1913, Walter was set apart as Mission President of the Eastern States Mission by President Joseph F. Smith. He served as Mission President until June 1, 1919
Walter Peter Monson died Feb 12, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was buried in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City, Utah Cemetery.
