In 1883, in order to accommodate the Saints of Richmond, the city banded together to build a new meeting house located today between the U.S. Post Office and the Relief Society Hall. The cost was $7,000 ($191,334.71 in 2022 value), and measured 28 feet wide and 70 feet tall. It was constructed with a stage, but later added another larger stage to the south end of the building. The building was dedicated by LDS President John Taylor in August of 1884.
