Enoch Jefferson Hunt was born Aug 17, 1860 in Ogden, Utah to William Bradford and Eleanor Wiggins Hunter. In 1873, the Hunt family moved to Richmond after living in Southern Utah at the command of Church President Brigham Young.1.1 On Feb 8, 1889, Enoch married Eliza Rebecca Whitaker in Logan, Utah.
At the age of 18, Enoch and his brother, William Bradford, started a construction company. Their first job was to help build the railroad from Utah to Montana. After they were done in Montana, they constructed railroads in Canada.1.1
During this time, Enoch and Eliza made their home in Richmond, though they were gone many time of the year helping with construction.1.2 In 1904, whether Enoch built it or contracted it is unknown, but this home was built. The only knowledge of this is in 1904 when Enoch and Joseph Richard Thomson did a house switch. Joseph records:
"We lived here until January 1904, when we traded with Enoch Hunt for the old Lawn Baker place, getting five acres in exchange and buying five acres."2
Joseph Richard Thomson was born July 18, 1870 in Richmond to George and Alice Tomlinson Thomson. Joseph married Ella Jane Shaprd on Sep 11, 1895. They had moved to many different homes in Richmond before moving to this one. The exact length of time the Thomson family lived in the home is unknown, but by 1908, they were living in a small home on 700 South State St.
It's not clear who owned the home between 1908-1930. Sometime in the 1930s, George's son, Verno Justin Thomson, and his wife, Loa Christensen, owned the home. After Verno's death in 1968, Loa and their son Justin Richard Thomson owned the house. After her death in 1987, Justin sold the home to the current homeowners.
