The Cache Valley Transit District (CVTD) is a transit district located in Logan, Utah providing transportation from Nibley, Utah to Preston, Idaho, and all major cities in Cache Valley along Highway 91, including Franklin and Preston, Idaho, and Lewiston, Utah. There are a total of nine stops in Richmond. It is a free service, paid through county and city taxes.
Organization
The Cache Valley Transit District (CVTD) also known as Cache Valley Transit (CVT) began its organization in 1990 by a few individuals who saw the need for a transit district in Logan, Utah. In the 1990 ballot, a vote about a transit district was made and passed. The transit district would be paid through the city's taxes, free to any users regardless of financial circumstances. The transit district began operations on April 27, 1992 known as the Logan Transit District.1
Cache Valley Transit District
On Nov 7, 2000, the CVTD was voted upon by Cache County residents to establish transportation from Richmond to Hyrum along Highway 91.1 Richmond received nine stops at the following addresses:
123 S Highway 91, in front of Cherry Creek Dental.
124 S Highway 91, across the street from Cherry Creek Dental.
112 West Main St. in front of the William S. & Margaret R. Hendricks Home.
39 South State St. in front of the Tithing Office.
193 South State St. on the corner of State and 200 S.
319 South State St. across the street from the Mountain View Apartments.
539 South State St. near the front of the James & Amy Burnham Farmstead.
157 West 600 South across the street from North Cache.
Pepperidge Farm.
When the CVTD was organized on Sep 7, 2001, it served all cities on weekdays but only served North Logan on weekends.3 The bus would occasionally visit Pepperidge Farm, but only 2-3 times a day.
Originally, a bus would enter through Highway 91 in front of Cherry Creek Dental, then make its way east through Main St., south down State St., and then leave on 600 W. On July 27, 2019, this changed with the bus going in the opposite direction.2 The bus's original name was Route North Cache Valley, as Richmond was as far north as it went. In 2016, it was changed to Route 15.
A member of the City Council is chosen to represent the CVTD of the city and surrounding area.
