March 10th 2026: I successfully defended my PhD thesis and was awarded an Honourable Mention! My thesis is entitled “Topics on Foundations of Physics: From the Quantum to the (Semi) Classical, Gravity, Thermodynamics, and (or beyond ) our possible detections.” The thesis explores several conceptual and technical aspects at the interface between quantum theory, gravity, and thermodynamics, with special emphasis on the role of some solutions to the measurement problem and their empirical implications. I am very grateful to my supervisors, committee members, collaborators, friends, and family for their support throughout this process.
September 29th 2025: Our paper "Fully self-consistent semiclassical gravity" has now been published in Physical Review D!
September 3-5 2025: Our congress `Rethinking Physics: From History, Philosophy, Teaching and Divulgation' continues at the School of Sciences at UNAM with the sessions on history, teaching and divulgation on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday respectively.
September 2nd 2025: Today ’s session on philosophy of physics, of our congress `Rethinking Physics: From History, Philosophy, Teaching and Divulgation' will continue at the School of Sciences at UNAM. The Youtube link to all the talks (in spanish) is here.
September 1st 2025: Today begins our congress `Rethinking Physics: From History, Philosophy, Teaching and Divulgation'. I will be one of the speakers in today’s session on the foundations of physics. The Youtube link to my talk (in spanish) is here: "Non-conventional detections: the case of Bohm and Newton".
August 18-27th 2025: It was truly stimulating to attend the John Bell Institute Summer School on Quantum Foundations: 'Speakable and Unspeakable', held at MedILS in Split, Croatia, which featured an excellent lineup of speakers.
August 14th 2025: I was honored to be invited to present our paper 'A Disputable Assumption Behind the Empirical Equivalence Between Pilot-Wave Theory and Standard Quantum Mechanics' (ArXiv preprint) at the Light and Matter Group Seminar, LMU Munich.
July 2025: I had a great experience, and fun, giving a talk on quantum mechanics and the role of the observer to the entire secondary school community at Logos School in Mexico City.
June 2025: Finally! here is our paper: Fully self-consistent semiclassical gravity (with E. Okon, D. Sudarsky and M. Wiedemann).
May 2025: We have now submitted to a journal our paper on the empirical agreement between pilot-wave theory and standard quantum mechanics (with Jorge Manero and Elias Okon).
April 2025: We have now submitted to a journal our paper on the detection of absolute velocity within Newtonian mechanics (with Jorge Manero and Elias Okon). We will upload it to arxiv until it gets accepted, but I can send the manuscript by email to anyone interested.
February 2025: Elias Okon gave a talk (in Spanish) on detecting absolute velocity in a Newtonian universe—the first part of our work with Jorge Manero. You can watch it on YouTube here.
October 2024: We will be attending the GRAVTUM 2024 workshop, organized by Elias Okon, where—among others—Tim Maudlin, Daniel Bedingham, and Daniel Sudarsky will be giving talks. Elias will present part of our research, which focuses on detections, pilot-wave theory, and its empirical agreement with quantum mechanics.
September 6th 2024: Here are our closing reflections on our congress RPPHT at the School of Sciences, UNAM (in Spanish: "Repensando la Física"). See more about the congress on the tab Foundations:RPHPT of this webpage.
Final day of Congress, Sept 6, 2024
September 5th 2024: Today I had the honour of introducing our friend Sebastián Murgueitio at the RPPHT congress, held at the School of Sciences, UNAM. His talk offered a thorough analysis of the philosophy, history, and physics of the principle of relativity (in Spanish). See more about the congress on the tab Foundations:RPHPT of this webpage.
Sebastián's talk in the 2nd day of Congress, Sept 5, 2024
September 4th 2024: Today starts our congress "Rethinking Physics: From Philosophy, History and Teaching (RPPHT)" at the School of Sciences, UNAM (in Spanish). Co-organized with: Jorge Manero, Rodrigo Hinojosa and Juan Guzmán. See more on the tab Foundations:RPHPT of this webpage. Here is the video of the first talk.
1st day of Congress, Sept 4, 2024
June 2024: I will be attending the ninth conference of the International Association for the Philosophy of Time.
July 2023: I will give a talk titled "Towards an Explanation of Equilibration using Quantum Collapse Theories" at the 21st European Conference on the Foundations of Physics in Bristol, UK.
