Hi, I'm Ryan Hudson, a Basketball Coach, Trainer, and Strength & Conditioning Coach based in East Tennessee. I recently accepted a Graduate Assistant Coach position for Women's Basketball at Montreat College, where I will continue developing my coaching philosophy and approach to athletic performance at the collegiate level, while planning a return to the East Tennessee area in May 2027.
Before joining Montreat, I served as the Strength & Conditioning Coach and Assistant Basketball Coach at Maryville Christian School in Maryville, Tennessee. During my time there, I helped build a stronger athletic culture by guiding student-athletes from little or no weight room experience to becoming confident, disciplined, and intentional in their training.
Before entering coaching, I played two years of collegiate basketball and earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport & Fitness Leadership from Johnson University in August 2025. My experiences as both an athlete and coach have shaped my passion for helping individuals maximize their potential through purposeful training and development.
I work with middle school, high school, and collegiate athletes, as well as adults looking to improve their health, performance, and overall quality of life through strength training. My strength and conditioning programs emphasize movement quality, progressive overload, injury reduction, and long-term athletic development that carries over to both sport performance and everyday life.
In basketball training, I focus on developing complete players through ball handling, footwork, finishing, shooting mechanics, basketball IQ, and game-specific skill development. Footwork, in particular, is one of the most overlooked yet essential components of basketball performance and remains a major emphasis in my training sessions.
My goal is simple: help athletes and individuals become stronger, more confident, and better prepared to reach their full potential. Whether you're pursuing the next level in sports or striving to become the strongest version of yourself, I'd be honored to be part of your journey.
