Every time I groom a dog, my goal is to keep them calm, safe, and comfortable. Having background in dog training and behavior, I am able to teach dogs to be calm and tolerate grooming. I go at your dog's speed, never rushing them through the process or making them uncomfortable.
Especially if you have a puppy, I can train and desensitize them to the grooming process. A perfect example would be Dennis, he is a Bernedoodle and I met him when he was only 4 months old. I rewarded his calm and good behavior, I went at his pace and made sure he was comfortable. Now he lays down to let me do anything I need to do: brush, comb, dremel his nails, etc. He stands calmly in the bath and is quiet and tolerant of the dryer. I can use dog training commands to have him sit, down, wait, stay still, etc. I'd love to create more calm dogs for grooming, because the truth and reality is- A LOT of dogs absolutely hate grooming. It's the lack of control over their body, not being properly desensitized to the loud noises, especially if in a salon setting and other dogs are anxious.
I was trained one on one by Coleen Lupo/Combs, where she went over safety, proper handling techniques, and of course how to properly prepare and cut a dog's hair for grooming. I also have an AKC S.A.F.E. certificate that that certifies I am a groomer of Safety, Assurance, Fundamentals, and Education.
Bring your dog to me for a nail trim and or grind.
I wil try whatever is most comfortable for your dog. Some dogs do not like the clippers because of the pressure the final clip creates and/or the sound, some dogs do not like the nail grinder because it's loud and it has the possibility to get hot, some dogs like one or the other, or do not mind either.
Ear cleaning, teeth brushing, nail trim/grind, paw pad trim, sanitary trim, and anal gland expression.
