In this project, I used the move tool, zoom tool, and transform tool. Because of this, I also learned the keyboard shortcuts for these tools. Including CMD +/- for zooming in or out, CMD + 0 for fitting the screen, and CMD + T for transforming. Additionally, I learned that pressing Z will get me to the zoom tool, and V will get me to the move tool. One more format thing I learned while doing this project was that hitting CMD + Z will undo in case an accident is made.
This project also taught me to adjust the colors of my project. For the four animals, I chose to make the colors more vibrant and saturated them, but I also learned how to make layers black and white if I want.
I learned more about the technical side of Photoshop in this project. In this project, I made a grid of four images where I learned how to crop and resize images, all of the images here are 6x6 inches. There are ways of making a specific ratio for an image, which is how I made sure all of my images are the same size.
I also learned about a few more keyboard shortcuts such as CMD + A fro selecting an entire image, as well as common shortcuts such as CMD + C and CMD + V for copy and paste, respectively. Another important shortcut I learned was CMD + shift + C, which is still copy, but it also merges an image. This is to be used when you are trying to copy an image that has multiple layers.
One last thing I learned was that once you are done using the crop tool, you should click off of it because it could change the size of your entire project.
For the images themselves, I remembered that it is important to use the rule of thirds when cropping an image, as seen in the images of the dog and castle, seen on the top and bottom left of the grid.
In this project, I applied some of what I learned in the previous Cropping and Resizing assignment, while also learning some new things.
I started with a blank page and put grid lines on it so I could put my three 6x6 inch images in with equal space in between.
In all of my images, I put a filter on them using the Filter Gallery. I also blended two images together for each of the three images. All three of the main pictures are of me and from left to right, they are blended with things that represent who I am with violets, baseball, and art (represented by Frida Kahlo).
This project taught me how to work on coloring in Photoshop. I learned a variety of keyboard shortcuts, like B for the brush tool and the brackets [ ] to adjust the size of the brush, and E to erase. The I key will get me to the eye-dropper tool which helps me use colors that are more realistic for my creations. Additionally, using a brush such as charcoal helps add shadows or depth to my images to make them look better.
Another thing I learned was that I can use blending modes to be more precise. In this image, there were small areas, and turning on the "multiply" blending mode preserved the black lines and stay within the lines.
In this project, I learned how to use the different kinds of selection tools available in Photoshop. There is the quick selection, object selection, and magic wand tools. They are useful for when you only want to select a certain part of an image rather than the whole thing.
When I copy and pasted the selections into my project, I used the four arrow keys to subtly nudge the selection into the exact spot I want. I also learned other keyboard shortcuts like M to go to the marquee tool and CMD + D to deselect if my selection is not how I want it.
This project was about learning how to use layer masks. Layer masking is a non-destructive way to show or hide content on a layer. It is better than simply selecting an object because it allows for mistakes. With the layer mask, if a mistake is made, you can use the brush tool to make it more precise.
I also learned how to make objects look more realistic, by refining the edges and changing the lighting to fit the scene, along with shadows. In this image, I added a bear, fox, deer, and raccoon.
For this project, I applied what I learned in the last one. I used layer masks and made my project look realistic with the squirrel and chipmunk, with a touch of surrealism with the horse.
It is inspired by René Magritte painting called The Blank Signature. I also added a filter on the project to make it seem more like a painting.
Here, I retouched this photo by fixing the fade that it has so viewers can more easily see the image.
In this project, I changed the cropping so the image was straight. Additionally, I made the image and the colors brighter so they stand out. I also changed the color of the house by using the selection tool to go from blue to green.
Similar to the last project, I used the selection tool to change the color of the people's shirts.
In this image, I changed the cropping so the horizon line was straight. I also got rid of many black dots using the spot healing tool. Using that and the clone tool, I also erased the man on the front of the boat from the image.
I made this image look like this person was in a more daring scenario. Using some of the tools I used in these other projects for retouching, I got rid of the imperfections on the rocks and got rid of the shadow of the rope using the clone and spot healing tools.
