In this project, I learned some of the basics of Adobe Illustrator. I learned about making shapes, such as circles and rectangles, and to always use the shift key when I want a perfect circle or square, or to preserve the dimensions of any object, such as the pencil in this project.
I learned how to group objects together by clicking all of them and then press CMD + G, and CMD + shift + G to ungroup objects.
For this project, I used shapes to create a pencil and add my own creations to it. I made the notebook and added the spirals, while also adding post-it notes with a font to make it look like the notes were handwritten.
For this color wheel, I learned hoe to use colors and how to determine what colors go together. I got the colors for this by using a model image and using the eyedropper to fill in the areas.
I drew the lines going around the border, they are the complimentary colors of the ones next to them. I also added the names of the colors, along with the "Color Wheel" at the top. Additionally, I made a black rectangle and sent it to the back for a black background to make the colors stand out.
This project was about seeing different colors. I made a grid of 64 boxes by starting with one 1x1 inch square and changing the nudging distance to 82 pts. and copying the box to make an 8x8 grid.
The first row of colors is the typical CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) colors and mixtures of them. The next row is playing around with gradients, and the next rows are complimentary, monochromatic, and analogous colors. I also explored the pre-set groups, like art history and patterns.
In this project, I learned how to use the pen tool. I learned how to make straight lines as well as curved lines by clicking and holding and dragging to create a curve.
Here, I started with making a pear and then added everything else including the other fruits in the bowl along with the bowl. I also thought it would be fun to make it look like a still-lif painting, so I also made the easel, canvas, and paintbrush and duplicated the fruit bowl.
Here, I got more practice with the pen tool. Using a separate image, I traced over these animals to make the same shape.
I used multiple layers, each part of the animals' heads was on a separate layer.
In this project, I made my own logo. I am a simple person so I wanted my logo to be simple as well. I combined my initials of R and G to make the monogram, along with calm colors and a round shape.
I made a four-card series of my favorite band, Pink Floyd. The pen tool was mostly used to make each person and background. Each of the backgrounds represents an album that Pink Floyd made: The Wall, Meddle, The Dark Side of the Moon, and Animals.
