The Band and Choir Program at Rock Falls High School have a long rich history of success! It is our job as the staff of the music department to continue that success. With 62 members currently enrolled in concert band and 22 in concert choir we are looking forward to taking our current strengths and growing upon them. Do I have to know anything about music to join band?
Nope! Everything you need to know to play an instrument will be taught in your band class. Any previous training in music you may have will be very helpful, but not necessary.
Will band or choir prevent my student from participating in other activities?
Our band program believes in developing the well-rounded student and wants his musicians to participate in athletics and other activities. Many of our band students are very successful athletes, hold leadership positions in clubs, and act as academic leaders in our schools! He has experience working with athletic directors, coaches, and other activity sponsors and will do his best to accommodate all students!
Can I enroll my child in band at any time?
It is difficult for a student to jump into band after the class has started. Students can fall behind and become discouraged. Questions about this matter should be discussed with him as soon as possible.
