I am Osvaldo Reyes Rodriguez, a painter and mixed-media artist originally from Mexico City, currently based in Texas. I graduated with an Associate of Arts from Dallas College in May 2025 and am now pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education at the University of North Texas.
My passion for art began in early childhood when I covered any surface I could find with colorful chalk drawings. Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s "Starry Night," I developed a love for swirling forms, vibrant colors, and expressive brushwork. Over the years, I have expanded my practice to include drawing, watercolor, sculpture, and ceramics, drawing from both classical and contemporary influences.
My work is deeply rooted in personal emotions and lived experiences, exploring art as a universal language that communicates beyond words. Through formal training, I have developed technical skills in oil painting methods such as "wash-in" and glazing, as well as advanced drawing techniques in proportion and shading. I also possess a comprehensive understanding of design principles through my work in sculpture.
As the first in my family to attend college, I am committed to using my education and experiences to inspire the next generation of artists. My goal is to become an art educator who encourages students to embrace their creativity, refine their skills, and discover their artistic voices. Above all, I am motivated by the unwavering support of my mother, who has always reminded me that with resilience, all dreams are achievable.
