You'll be packing only a 5-Gallon Bucket. Trust us, you don't want to be pushing and pulling a handcart with any more weight than absolutely needed.
Your 5-Gallon Bucket will store your belongings plus can be used as a handy chair (if desired). Your bucket will hold all of your clothing, toiletries, and personal items.
Due to the weight limitations of our handcarts, buckets should not exceed 17 lbs! So pack smart and adjust accordingly. (Your bucket will be dropped-off, and weighed-in, the night before departure.)
Choose a Sturdy Bucket & Lid
A 70 mil thickness will be adequate for most trekkers but if you are worried that thicker may be needed for sitting on, you might look at a 90 mil thickness.
Ensure the lid is easy to take off and put on, twist on and off is recommended (see below).
Ensure the handle of your bucket is made of metal, plastic handles are discouraged.
A new bucket is not necessary. You can use what you have around the house or an old paint or other 5 gallon bucket. If you prefer a ne, herwe are some options:

Want to make it even EASIER?!👆 Ditch the messy glue gun and use DUCT TAPE to bind your fabric to the back of your cardboard. Works like a charm!😉
Materials Needed:
16 X 16 square inch of Fabric
Have each youth bring their own fabric! They’ll have fun customizing their buckets and picking out the fabric they want, trust! 16 x 16 or 20 x 20 should be enough to cover 1-2 inches of foam and wrap behind the cardboard.
1-2 inches of thick Foam
Choose your preferred thickness! You can find foam pads or foam sheets at Walmart, Target, or any craft store.
Sturdy Piece of Cardboard
To trace the diameter of your lid. Amazon or moving boxes are great!
Glue Gun or Duct Tape
To secure the fabric to the backside of your cardboard. We recommend Duct Tape!
Velcro Tape or Locking Command Strips
To attach your cushion to your lid. Locking Command Strips are super secure.
Bucket Decor
Once you have your bucket, you are free to decorate your bucket however you choose. Markers! Spray Paint! Duct Tape! Vinyl! Ribbon! Tulle! Choose your method and make it your own!
