About

About the Revolution Music Project

Beginning in the Winter of 2012, Gregory Phifer, under the original artist alias, "DJ Gr3gmi5t3r" began producing his own electronic music; in lighter terms, he began to discover his sound and his place in the production community. Originally inspired by the sounds of Skrillex and Deadmau5, Greg's passion for music production began to override his interests in musical performance. He originally started playing the piano around the age of 8, and shortly after started mixed percussion lessons Percussion playing took most of his time, but he still managed to fit some production in at the time. Speaking of time, as it progressed, Greg's sound unfolded more and more; he originally began producing using Linux Multi-Media Studio (or "LMMS"), a cross platform, open source production software that is commonly used among aspiring producers. He slowly built up a large sample library consisting of his own personal recorded sounds, as well as sounds from the Cymatics library, and various internet services for loops and samples. He also built up a VST instrument bank that increased the flexibility of his sound. Final steps in forming today's sound included moving from LMMS to FL Studio, and finally to his current preferred software, Cubase Elements. Another final step in creating the preferred system of music production was updating to his current alias, "Revolution". It was meant to represent the revolutionary sound that has been in the making since he first began his production adventure.

"Revolution" currently works out of the far south side in Chicago, Illinois. He goes by the original, "Revolution", or the work he does is often placed under "The Revolution Music Project", as well as "Revolution Music New".
