Start planning for the future!
With a similar format to our Community Nutcracker, we will begin doing an annual Shakespeare in the Park of A Midsummer Night's Dream in our very own Silverton. Auditions will be in February 2026 with rehearsals starting in March and going through July.
The ballet/play will be performed in end of July located in the City Municpal Park on McClaine Street.
We are advertising it NOW in hopes that people start planning their summer around it. We know many families plan for vacations and trips and our performers can't be gone until after July!
We will combine the PLAY with the BALLET, complete with a live orchestra conducted by Silverton's own Tim Duffy.
Performers needed will be Actors of all genders, dancers of all genres, ages, and abilities, orchestral musicians, and choral singers.
We will also need DONATIONS of both monetary and materials, builders, costume designers and seamstresses, prop builders, artists, sound engineers, and volunteers galore! IF YOU want to be part of this, there is a place for you!

It takes a LOT to produce The Nutcracker, and although we do have a large inventory of costumes, each year our cast size (and their sizes) is different.
Part of what makes our Community Nutcracker so magical and beautiful is that we make it equitable for ALL to participate in our show. That means everyone who auditions is offered a role, regardless of age, size, shape, experience, training, studio, sexual orientation, color, race, etc.
We don't limit how many people we cast. Some years, we have a plethora of "babies" (ages 3-5) audition, and some years (like this year), we have a huge group of kids ages 6-10 audition. This means our needs for costumes and props change with each year's cast.
Additionally, because we are an amateur production that is primarily children, our inventory is "well loved" and gets damaged over time (supplies need to do those repairs), lost (where did all of my headpieces go that I made last year? did they wear them home and not return them?), and, if they are beyond repair, they need to be replaced.
