My expertise includes working with individuals facing challenges such as learning disabilities, substance abuse, "failure to launch", social anxiety, addiction, depression, and mental health issues. I have also been extensively involved in crisis intervention, life skills and therapy groups, program development and implementation, mentoring, and staff supervision.
I have worked in several Inpatient and Outpatient Therapeutic Programs as well as being a Site Director for a student focused online charter school for at-risk youth. In these positions, I have built alliances among youth, their families, mentors, and the community in order to motivate and guide their intellectual, social, and emotional growth. I have also been involved in coordinating recreational activities and therapeutic practices.
Another position I have held was at a residential facility for adjudicated youth, which promoted both Positive Youth Development and Community Restorative Justice. Working with individuals in this program involved a multitude of daily practices, including the promotion of healthy social interactions, counseling, running treatment groups, and aiding youth in the transition back into the community. The facility also had a well developed sports program in which I coached competitive cross country skiing and cycling at both state and local levels.
I am a Colorado native and enthusiastic participant in many outdoor activities. I have a passion for providing leadership and guidance to young people and strive to help them develop their full potential. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, construction, camping, auto repair, climbing, biking, snowboarding, and spending time with my daughter.
