Open Access and Preservation Policies
General Statement
Our journal is committed to promoting accessible knowledge for all. Therefore, we have adopted an open access policy, ensuring that all published articles are freely accessible, immediately and permanently, to anyone worldwide.
Definition of Open Access
As estabished by the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), "Open Access is the condition where the copyright holder of a scholarly work grants usage rights to others using an open license (Creative Commons or equivalent) allowing for immediate free access to the work and permitting any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose."
Licenses and Copyright
All articles published in our journal are distributed under the Creative Commons CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.
Authors retain copyright of their works, but initial publication rights are reserved by the journal.
Authors are free to share their work through other means, provided it is the same original version published by the journal and complies with the CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.
Publication Fees
Our journal does not impose article processing charges (APCs) or fees for publication. This model is sustained thanks to the support of academic institutions, non-profit organizations, and sponsors.
Digital Archiving and Preservation
All articles published in our journal are archived in reliable digital repositories (Editorial Universidad de Sevilla and Centro Virtual Cervantes) to ensure their long-term preservation. The PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) and the LOCKSS program are employed to guarantee the future accessibility of the content.
Statement on Repositories and Self-Archiving
Authors are encouraged to deposit the published versions of their articles in open access institutional or thematic repositories. This self-archiving contributes to the dissemination and visibility of research. Preprint versions of articles are not permitted for publication.
Transparency and Commitment
We are committed to keeping our authors, readers, and collaborators informed about any changes to this open access policy. Any modifications will be announced in advance and will apply exclusively to future articles.

Open Access Support by Editorial Universidad de Sevilla
Editorial Universidad de Sevilla publishes all its journals under an open access (OA) model. All content is distributed under a CC-BY-NC-SA license; the legal text of the license can be consulted here.
You can access the ISSN database for open access journals at the following link.
Journals managed by Editorial Universidad de Sevilla, hosted on the domains https://editorial.us.es/es/revistas and https://revistascientificas.us.es, benefit from secure and permanent archiving. The university's IT service automatically performs daily backups of their content every 24 hours.
All articles published in journals by Editorial Universidad de Sevilla are deposited in the institutional repository, IdUS, whose preservation policy ensures:
Content is regularly checked to maintain its integrity, security, and durability.
Content is transformed into new formats when deemed necessary (based on the same criteria of security and durability).
Software emulations are provided, where possible, for accessing formats that cannot be migrated.
Regular backups are made of the entire IdUS content, including data and metadata.
PKP Preservation Network
Our journals are supported by PKP and its development, the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which enables the digital preservation of journals hosted on OJS. The LOCKSS program ensures decentralized and distributed preservation, uninterrupted perpetual access, and the preservation of the authentic original version of the content. PKP PN guarantees the long-term preservation of journals not included in other digital preservation services (such as CLOCKSS or Portico). For additional details about PKP PN, refer to the high-level overview.
The PKP Preservation Network is an open access system available to all OJS journals, making it particularly appealing to journals that lack the resources to join preservation services requiring financial contributions. It is also valuable for journals that prioritize the added benefits of open access. The PKP Preservation Network is secure, managed by PKP (a non-profit organization), uses open-source infrastructure (LOCKSS), and welcomes not only new journals but also new partners and storage collaborators.
