We believe in a comprehensive approach to education. This means we provide a network of interlinked programmes to help the families we are working with succeed.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic our programmes are now being provided online. We are helping families to access reliable WiFi and technology to continue to learn.
“I work in the classroom for children who have little or no background in the English language and it is incredible to see how quickly they pick the language up.”
“Students with a migrant/refugee background, especially new arrivals, may initially underperform academically, especially when they do not receive the required additional support. Yet, their education performance improves significantly over time when provided with adequate support, as many show determination to improve their prospects in life.” -UN Migration
Children who have not been to school for years. Mothers who are eager to work but do not have the necessary training. Youth who are too old for primary and secondary school but who are willing to join the workforce. These are some of the people who work to change their lives through our centre.
Through our school programme--children and youth are prepared academically for formal schooling. Students who are ready to be placed in formal school are helped with their school fees. Older youth, mothers, and families are trained with vocational and life skills for employment. Our aim is to address educational barriers and provide opportunities that allow all children and families to learn and thrive in the UAE.
We provide instruction and training in Arabic and English, four days a week to prepare students to enroll in formal schooling. Our training sessions are small and individualized to help the children learn quickly. If you want to help support a student who is in our education programme, click here.
Our goal is prepare students for formal school. Students who are placed in school can also get after school support. The biggest obstacle the children in our program who are ready to go to school face is the high school fees in Abu Dhabi. Join us to help a child who is ready for school pay his/her fees.
Many of the mothers of the children we were supporting approached us and asked if we could set up vocational training for them. To date we have partnered with ___ to train Early Childhood Teacher Assistants and with Skills3 to teach women how to sew. We are planning to expand these programmes to include above school aged youth and mothers.
In the summer of 2019, the Emirates College of Advanced Education hosted our summer school. In 2020, due to the pandemic, our summer school was held online. 30 children participated in Arabic and English activities. We are developing partnerships to help teenagers and young adults access vocational programmes. Please let us know if you are interested in partnering with us.
