Will I just read Bible verses to you?
We believe in taking a well-rounded approach to counseling. Instead of quoting Bible verses, we want to consider all the different parts of a person's life, like their feelings, thoughts, relationships, and beliefs. People are complex, and I think it’s important to understand them fully rather than relying on quick Bible quotes or common sayings that might not really help.
When counseling, we examine scripture to determine what it says about your circumstances. We also address issues such as heart and sin issues. We talk not only about the problem but also about God's solution.
We help you better understand scripture within the context so you can have a stronger relationship with Jesus. Each session teaches an application and solution so you may use it throughout the week.
What is your counseling like?
Biblical counseling services are available in person and online. We understand that each individual's needs are unique, so we offer flexibility in scheduling sessions. For most cases, we recommend scheduling weekly sessions, each lasting one hour and fifteen minutes..
However, depending on the nature of the issue for which you seek counseling, we may suggest alternative schedules. We aim to give you the support and guidance you need to overcome obstacles and lead a fulfilling life.
Do you take Insurance?
We do not take insurance because our approach is rooted in Scripture rather than psychological diagnoses and treatment plans required by insurance companies. Accepting insurance often means complying with state licensure, clinical documentation, and diagnosis codes that may conflict with a biblical framework. Instead, biblical counseling focuses on spiritual growth, heart change, and discipleship, which insurance does not cover. This allows us to offer Christ-centered care with more freedom and confidentiality.
Are you a licensed counselor?
At Resurrecting Hope, we are CERTIFIED Biblical counselors through the Association of Biblical Counselors (ABC, ACBC) which exists to enlist, equip, enrich, and encourage all believers everywhere to live and counsel the Word, applying the Gospel to the whole experience of life. We truly care about providing support and guidance from a biblical perspective.
Our counselors are NOT part of a licensed agency, and we are NOT licensed psychotherapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, mental health professionals, marriage and family therapists, or social workers. While we’re here to listen and help, we don’t provide medical advice, and we want to make sure you seek the right help if you ever need it. Your journey is important to us, and we’re here to walk alongside you!
Resurrecting Hope is NOT the right solution for you if any of the following is true:
You have thoughts of hurting yourself or others.
You have been diagnosed with a severe mental illness, or you have been advised to be in psychological supervision or psychiatric care.
You were required to undergo therapy or counseling by a court order or any other authority.
We are not clinically based; therefore, if you are currently in crisis please call 911 or 988 for the suicide hotline.
Is Counseling confidential?
We understand the importance of keeping your information private and do everything we can to maintain confidentiality. However, there are situations where it might be necessary. By using our services, you agree that we may share information under the following circumstances:
If we suspect that a child, dependent adult, or elder is being abused, we are required by law to report it to the appropriate authorities.
If you are threatening to harm another person, we are required to notify the police.
If you are thinking about harming yourself, we will do everything we can to help you stay safe. Because we provide virtual counseling and in-person sessions, there may be additional measures we need to take to ensure your safety.
If we are unsure how to address a problem, we should seek advice from a pastor, supervising counselor, or educator (Proverbs 11:14; 24:6).
How long does counseling take?
The duration of counseling depends on the specific issues. Some problems can be resolved in a few sessions, while others may require ongoing support over a longer period.
You won't be going through this alone. How long counseling will take depends on both you and the counselor. The counseling will be designed to meet your specific needs. We aim to work together with you so that you can reach your goals and improve your well-being.
