We are a community-led group working to transition historic Lakeside Cemetery from unstable for-profit ownership to nonprofit or community stewardship. Our goal is to place the cemetery under public ownership, such as the City of Erie, with professional nonprofit management to ensure respectful care, long-term preservation, transparency, and accountability.

Why we are raising funds:

The primary use of these funds will be to support a structured, community-driven effort to secure and protect Lakeside Cemetery, including:

• Participation in a potential tax sale or acquisition process to help ensure the property is not transferred to another for-profit owner

• Legal action and representation, including attorney fees, court filings, and efforts to obtain financial accountability for missing or mismanaged perpetual care funds

• Advocacy and coordination with local officials to support a transition to public ownership and nonprofit stewardship

If funds remain after acquisition and legal efforts, they will be used directly for cleanup, restoration, and respectful maintenance of the cemetery grounds, so families can begin to see immediate improvements.
