Evidence Kit Tracking:
The Arkansas State Crime Lab utilizes a tracking system for transparency of kit locations. Each kit in a facility should be added to the site’s location in the tracking system when it arrives to the facility and released to the appropriate agency when it leaves or is removed.

Please contact a Sexual Assault Kit Tracking Administrator at the ASCL if you need to set up an account or need any assistance:
Andrea Swift 501-683-6100 or email at SAKT_Admin@crimelab.arkansas.gov.
Please make sure to provide the website info and the kit barcode to the victim so they will be able to track the progress of their kit.
Needing More SA Kits:
A medical facility can request additional SA kits by contacting the ASCL. Please contact them before reaching a critically low quantity to allow for possible lags in shipping time.
If your facility happens to send unused kits to another provider (to help them out in a pinch), please make sure to update the kits on the tracking website or reach out to ASCL to update the location of the kits on the website.
Contact info: Contact ASCL at 501-683-6100 to request SA kits.
Toxicology testing
Collecting toxicology for ASCL: Toxicology samples should only be collected to go to the ASCL, when appropriate. Ordering and sending toxicology samples to the hospital lab for testing is NOT RECOMMENDED unless it is medically necessary to care for and/or stabilize the patient. Toxicology samples for the crime lab as listed below should still be collected if toxicology samples are deemed necessary.
Consider toxicology testing if the patient presents with or reports any signs of memory loss, lapse of consciousness, or vomiting; whether the patient was given food or drink by the suspect (if the patient knows); or whether the patient voluntarily ingested drugs or alcohol.
Toxicology samples for ASCL:
Urine within 120 hours of assault
**30mL minimum
Always for drug-facilitated assault
Blood in addition if within 24 hours of assault
**10mL minimum in gray or purple tube with additive
Place LABELED specimens in biohazard bag and then package and refrigerate
Toxicology samples for ASCL will only be tested for DFSA cases
If you don’t get enough you can still send what you were able to collect.
Expired gray top tubes are okay to use if that’s all that you have.
DO NOT PLACE TOXICOLOGY SAMPLES IN THE SA KIT
Toxicology must be processed in a more timely manner, and storing it with the kit poses risks such as spillage that could destroy evidence, as well as improper storage
The swabs are what expire rather than the whole kit. If you are able to replace the swabs inside with swabs that are in date you can still use the box and envelopes.
The nurse collecting the kit needs to fill out the sticker on the back of the kit to help with identifying the proper jurisdiction for the investigating agency.
