Workshops held by Respect at University of Mauritius on Agroecology, with focus on Hugelkultur & ramial chip wood

RESPECT actively collaborates with the University of Mauritius to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world agroecological practice. Through this partnership, the organisation contributes to the development of future agricultural professionals by sharing practical, field-tested approaches to sustainable farming.

Workshops conducted on campus focus on innovative and low-resource techniques such as Hugelkultur and the use of Ramial Chipped Wood. These sessions emphasize soil regeneration, water conservation, and ecological resilience—core principles that align with RESPECT’s mission of promoting sustainable food systems in Mauritius.

The RESPECT team regularly engages with students from the Faculty of Agriculture, delivering hands-on workshops that go beyond theory. By demonstrating practical implementation methods, the initiative empowers students to adopt agroecological solutions that are both environmentally responsible and economically accessible.
