Researching Canadian Soldiers

Our heritage is important. Many men and women sacrificed years of their lives, some their actual lives, giving to the new nation of Canada. World War 1 was a nation-building event and brought Canada out into the international community as a country that punches above its weight in military, social, economic, and political spheres.

A brief history

The project was the result of a question posed by my daughter. Almost in its second decade we have discovered the lives of thousands of 18th Battalion (and other units) men. A blog was created to record the war diary of the 18th Battalion and each man who's life was lost due to being killed in action, died of wounds due to action, disease, illness, and accident was found and a decade's long pursuit is in progress to find the approximately 4,000 men who served in the 18th Battalion.

On Going Goals and Objectives

To find and record every man who served with the 18th Battalion; to help those who wish to learn more about the personnel who participated in the Canadian Forces in World War 1; to preserve Canada's military heritage.
