RM History started on 02/05/2024. At first, it was just me on TikTok under the name RM Collecting, posting short videos about coins, banknotes, books, and anything else I found interesting
Eventually, TikTok wasn’t enough for the longer topics I wanted to cover, so I set up the RM Collecting YouTube channel. This gave me the space to go into more detail and take a bit more time explaining things. Over time, the content naturally shifted away from just collectibles and started covering history more broadly — which is when RM Collecting became RM History.
That change really opened things up. I could now talk about anything from coins and ships to local history projects. One of the first big videos after the change was The History of Chatham.
Then in January 2025, I launched RM Research — this was where I would do research into a certain subject and publish a small book on my research.
Now, RM History is more than just a single channel. It’s a collection of projects — RM Collecting, RM Research, and whatever comes next — all focused on the same goal: sharing history.
