Replaying Japan 2026 - Paper Award - EN JP
The "Replaying Japan" space, where researchers with humanities and social science backgrounds intersect with graduate students engaged in game production, is a perfect stage to embody on an international scale the "trinity of academics, culture, and production education" promoted by this project.
We propose the concept of a Paper Award that balances the project's objectives (developing leader-type creators, multifaceted literacy, and building an international development foundation) with the conference's nature as a fusion of humanities, sciences, and arts.
Replaying Japan 2026 - the Unfinished Game Award - EN JP
As one of GCCP’s initiatives, we plan to hold the inaugural Unfinished Game Award in early 2027. The award will focus on games currently in development by creators supported through GCCP.
The award does not evaluate works according to their degree of completion or marketability. Instead, it focuses on the “question” each creator is pursuing through the process of making the work, and on how that question takes form in the game’s rules, modes of expression, player experience, and development process.
Here, “unfinished” does not simply mean incomplete or deficient. It refers to a state in which unresolved questions remain, experimentation continues, and the work retains the potential to change and develop into a different form.
Works may be digital, analog, or a combination of the two; no particular format is prescribed.
