Please check your calendar and be sure that you are able to attend all three workshops, master class, and final concert. Attendance at the two introductory seminars is optional, but highly recommended to get the most out of this course.

Introduction to composing: Composer Jason Fromme will discuss the materials of musical composition: melody, harmony, counterpoint, rhythm and meter, texture and form.
Saturday, September 21, 11 am to 1:00 pm. Reno Central Library, recital room.
Introduction to orchestration: Composer Jason Fromme will talk about the instruments in the ensemble, give examples of how they work, discuss transposition problems and provide tips on how composers orchestrate to get the most out of the instruments.
Thursday Nov. 14, 6pm-8:30pm, Clayton Middle School, 1295 Wyoming Ave
Workshop I: Composers will be assigned individual times to attend the workshop.

Workshop II: Composers will be assigned individual times to attend the workshop.
To be scheduled February, Clayton Middle School, 1295 Wyoming Ave
Workshop III: Composers will be assigned individual times to attend the workshop.
Date (after 2nd workshop, before final concert) and location to be decided.
Master Class: 4 composers will be selected to present their works-in-progress in a public master class.
Weekend of May 2-3, time and location TBA.
Final Concert: performance and awarding of certificates of completion, reception afterwards!
