Welcome to Renew That — a simple way to keep track of the things you use at home and remember when they need to be replaced. Here are a few tips to help you get started.
Modern life asks us to keep so many things in our minds at once — work, children, appointments, shopping, household tasks, and all the little details that keep a home running. I wanted to create something for people who, like me, can’t always remember every detail of their home — when we last replaced a towel, changed the bedding, bought a new pair of shoes, or whether something simply needs our attention.
Renew That is my small attempt to bring some order to that everyday mental load. Not to make family life more complicated, but to take a few things out of our heads and put them somewhere simple, calm, and easy to manage — so we can spend our attention on the people and moments that actually matter.
1. Start with your homes
Create a household for each home you want to keep track of. If you have more than one home, you can manage them separately.
For example:
🏠 Our Home
🏡 Country House
🏠 Apartment
This keeps everything organized from the very beginning.
2. Organize your things into groups
Create groups that make sense for your home, such as Bathroom, Bedroom, Kitchen, Cleaning or Clothes.
When you add an item, you can place it in a group.
Don’t worry if you can’t think of the right group right away — an item can stay without a group. You can always add it to a group later.
And if you change your mind, that’s fine too. Items can be moved between groups whenever you need.
3. Add the things you want to keep track of
Add everyday items that you replace regularly — towels, toothbrushes, bedding, clothes, cleaning supplies, and anything else you don’t want to forget about.
For each item, tell Renew That how often it should be replaced and when it was last replaced. Renew That will calculate when it is time to replace it.
4. Take a photo when you replace something
Photos are more useful than they might seem.
When you replace an item, take a photo of the new item. This gives you a visual record of what was actually replaced and when.
For example, imagine you have a red towel in Renew That. You replace it and take a photo of the new red towel.
A few months later, you look at the app and see that the photo shows a red towel — but the towel hanging in your bathroom is green.
That little detail can tell you that something changed: perhaps someone replaced the towel for you, or the wrong item was updated in the app.
So photos help you answer a very simple question: “Is this the same item I replaced last time?”
5. Keep your home up to date
When you replace something, update it in Renew That and add a photo of the new one.
Over time, this creates a simple history of your household items and helps everyone know what was replaced and when.
You don’t need to update everything at once. Start with the things you replace most often and add more as you go.
6. Share your household with your family
Renew That is especially useful when you share a home.
Maybe one person starts by adding the household and entering all the items. Later, another family member joins.
Simply invite them to your household. They can then help keep the information up to date too.
This means everyone can see the same household information — so you don’t have to remember everything alone.
A little at a time is enough
You don’t have to organize your entire home in one evening.
Start with one room, a few everyday items, or the things you most often forget to replace. Add more whenever you have time.
Renew That is here to make home care a little easier — and a little more organized, together. 🏡
