RENATE had the privilege of presenting at the CSW67 2023 courtesy of the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd. RENATE spoke of thieir work in the context of this years theme; “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.” This event was moderated by Ms. Anne Kelleher.

I am Sr Eilís Coe, a Religious Sister of Charity and long-time member of RENATE (Religious in Europe Networking Against Trafficking and Exploitation). In the last year, we have been shocked and horrified by the disasters which have occurred around our world, the war in Ukraine, the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, floods and fires due to global warming. All of these have resulted in an increase in human trafficking, when unscrupulous traffickers prey on people at their most vulnerable.We can feel overwhelmed by these happenings. Our best efforts to help seem so inadequate. At times like this, we need to draw aside, to rest a while and to experience the presence of God. In the midst of turmoil, RENATE on-line House of Prayer provides an oasis of calm, an interlude of peace and beauty, rest for our souls. We are encouraged as we join in prayer with the great number of members of the House of Prayer.Sr Gabriela will now take us on a visit to the House of Prayer.
