Remoto: Universal TV Remote
Effective date: October 21, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the Remoto team ("we", "us"), the developer of the Remoto: Universal TV Remote app ("Remoto" or "the app"). By downloading or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Our Privacy Policy (https://sites.google.com/view/remoto-universal-tv-remote/privacy-policy) explains how the app handles information and is part of these Terms.
1. What Remoto does
Remoto lets you control compatible TVs and streaming devices from your phone over your local Wi-Fi network: buttons, touchpad, keyboard, voice commands and app shortcuts, depending on what each TV supports.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these Terms and the rules of the store you downloaded it from (such as the Google Play Terms of Service). We keep all rights not expressly granted to you. The app is licensed, not sold.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the app to control a TV or device you do not own or are not allowed to control;
- use the app in a way that breaks any law or the rights of others;
- copy, modify, distribute, sell or rent the app, or remove any notices in it;
- reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the source code of the app, except where the law allows it;
- try to bypass the free usage limits, ads, or subscription checks, or interfere with how the app or its services work;
- send problem reports that contain illegal, abusive or other people's personal content.
4. Compatibility
Remoto works with many TV brands and models, but we cannot guarantee it works with every TV, every model year, every software version, or every network. Features and buttons differ by brand and model, and some features may not be available on your TV. TV makers can change or remove the control interfaces the app relies on at any time, for example through a TV software update, and this may stop some or all features from working. Your phone and TV must be on the same local network, and some TVs require you to turn on a network or remote control setting.
We recommend trying the app with your TV on the free plan before buying a subscription.
5. Not affiliated with TV makers
Remoto is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or approved by Samsung, LG, Roku, Amazon, Google, Vizio, Hisense, Sony, Philips, Panasonic, TCL, Toshiba, or any other TV or device maker.
All product names, brand names, logos and trademarks (including Fire TV, Android TV, Google TV, webOS, Tizen, VIDAA, Bravia and SmartCast) belong to their respective owners. We use them only to describe which devices the app can work with.
6. Free plan, subscriptions and trials
Free plan. The app can be used for free with ads and a daily limit on remote commands (some basic buttons are not counted).
Premium. Premium removes the daily command limit and ads, so every feature (including voice, keyboard, touchpad and app launching) can be used without limits. Premium is offered as auto-renewing subscriptions (weekly, monthly and yearly) sold through Google Play.
- Payment: payment is charged to your Google Play account when you confirm the purchase, or when the free trial ends.
- Free trial: the yearly plan may include a free trial of 3 days. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and you are charged the yearly price. Trial eligibility is decided by Google Play (for example, one trial per account).
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancel: you can cancel any time in the Google Play Store app under Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions, or at https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. After cancelling, Premium stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Restore: if you reinstall the app or change phones, use Restore purchase with the same Google account.
- Refunds: purchases are processed by Google Play, and refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policy (https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637). We cannot issue refunds directly. Where the law gives you a right to a refund, that right is not affected.
- Prices: prices are shown in the app and on Google Play before you buy, and may vary by country. We may change prices for future periods; Google Play will tell you as required.
7. Ads
The free version shows ads provided by Google AdMob. Ads are provided by third parties, and we are not responsible for the content of ads or for products or services advertised. Your ad privacy choices are described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Feedback
If you send us a problem report or suggestion, you allow us to use it to improve the app, without any obligation to you. Do not include confidential or sensitive information in reports.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with your devices, or that it will always respond as expected. You use the app at your own risk. Some countries do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or use, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the app or any TV or device you control with it. Our total liability for any claim related to the app will not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 10 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the law of your country.
11. Termination
You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it (remember to cancel any subscription in Google Play). We may suspend or end your license if you break these Terms. We may also change, suspend or stop the app, or any feature of it, at any time. Sections 5, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 continue to apply after termination.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will change the effective date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app or on the Google Play listing. If you keep using the app after the changes take effect, the updated Terms apply.
