CASE BINDING
Featuring decorative end sheets, pockets on the inside of the covers, and page marker.
BRADEL BINDING
Bradel binding is a bookbinding style with a hollow back and a visible joint. It originated in 18th century Germany and is named after Alexis-Pierre Bradel, a French binder who worked in Germany. In this project, the original book was deconstructed and rebinded. The original soft covers are inserted along with the signatures and the cover is brand new design.
Being an Oregon resident who loves beautiful plants and botanical art, I selected for this project the book "Plant This!," by author Levine Ketzel.
UH STRUCTURE WITH HARD COVER LEATHER BINDING
The UH structure gets its name from the round spine which is attached by a hollowed structure to the covers. The hard covers are decorated with leather and mosaics, and the signatures are attached to stubs to allow better page opening.
I selected an classic philosophy book this project: The Prince from Niccolo Machiavelli. The original book was printed in letterpress in 1944 by The Temple Press Letchworth in Great Britain. The original hard covers are saved on a separate box.
