I was born and raised in Costa Rica, a well-known tropical paradise that deeply shaped my love for nature. In 1997, I joined a multinational company that offered me incredible opportunities through a variety of roles. I had the privilege of exploring diverse cultures, breathtaking landscapes and amazing people around the world, ultimately leading to my relocation to the United States in 2013.
In 2023, I left behind that fast-paced corporate career and embraced a full-time artistic journey. Today, my days are devoted to botanical art and illustration and the timeless craft of bookbinding, refocusing my creativity and passion into every project.
Botanical art and illustration have been a blessing in restoring my connection to nature. Each project calls for the meticulous observation and study of plants to better understand the rhythms of their life cycle. It is a priceless opportunity to pause, embrace stillness and immerse in the quiet sacred wisdom of nature.
In 2024, I completed a Contemporary Bookbinding Design Certificate from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes (Argentina). Over eight intensive months, I honed my skills, explored the tactile characteristics of the different bookbinding materials, and expanded my creative vision.
Botanical Art and bookbinding are beautifully interwoven disciplines. They allow me to create and share stories that speak about the harmony and beauty of nature through illustration, preserving them in handcrafted bound pages.
I find lots of inspiration on life interdependencies. My creations are inspired by nature walks, studio experiments, and the beautiful people I meet. Each one is aimed to spark joy, wonder, and celebrate life's amazing connections.
WHY REMONTANT?
The term Remontant originated in France in the 19th century, it means 'rising again.' It is often used to describe plants that bloom multiple times within a growing season.
For me, Remontant carries a profound metaphorical resonance. It speaks to the ability to regenerate, renew, and thrive despite the cycles of rest and dormancy. Throughout my life, I too, have experienced seasons of growth, stillness, and reinvention.
I take inspiration from the Remontant rose, which blooms again and again after its first flourish. Like this resilient flower, I also have the ability to adapt to change and embrace life’s transitions with grace and strength. Each fresh “bloom” becomes a testament to our ability to grow and redefine ourselves—drawing wisdom from past experiences while stepping confidently into new opportunities with hope, vitality, and endless possibility.
Through Remontant Art, I share a journey of continuous growth, blending art, nature, and personal renewal—inviting others to explore beauty, creativity, and connection in every season of life.
Let’s Remontant —Join me on this journey, where every piece tells a story and invites us to grow, flourish, and rediscover ourselves, season after season.
