1. PRESENCE
Your desire to pray indicates God’s
presence. Notice God gazing upon you.
2. REVIEW
Go through the events of your day so far. Let them come to mind without effort. What did you do? Whom did you meet? What happened to you?
3. FEELINGS
Notice the feelings that have arisen within you. Express them to God.
4. ONE FEATURE
Take a moment and pray with one feeling or feature of your day that stands out. What might God have been showing you through that?
5. MAGIS
Consider today what you have done for God. How have you lived the Gospel message of peace, charity, and bold love? What more can you do for God?
Prayer is talking to God.
We do this by using our own words or by saying prayer that we Catholics pray.
We pray:
• to ask God for help
• to tell God how beautiful the world is
• to ask God to forgive us
• to pray for someone in need
• to thank God for His love
• to ask God’s blessing for us and others
In the morning we can offer God all things we will do that day. At night we thank God for being with us all day. God also wants us to pray as parish community. We pray together when we gather for the celebration of Mass and other sacraments. From the beginning of the Church, the followers of Jesus have tried to live and act as Jesus taught. So they have passed on many of their prayers and practices.
THE SIGN OF THE CROSS
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; they kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
HAIL MARY
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
GLORY BE
Glory be to the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.
PRAYER TO MY GUARDIAN ANGEL
Angel of God, my guardian dear. To whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day, be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
PRAYER BEFORE MEALS
Bless us, O Lord, and these thy gifts which we are about to receive from thy bounty, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
ACT OF CONTRITION
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In his name, my God, have mercy. Amen.
