Jon is a wonderful, kind, sensitive, compassionate teacher. I thank him for what he has given my children over the years. They are better humans because of him .

Hi Jon! Hope your Easter weekend was good. I just had to share this quick little something Sam said yesterday when I told him he didn't have piano yesterday because of the Easter holiday. He said, "Aw, that is the only thing that makes my Monday good."

Thought that was pretty cool -

Thank you for all you do!

Stacy

He looks forward to his lessons every week.  We feel so lucky that we found him such a great teacher.  Jay was telling my dad about the things he's been learning in his lessons and my dad (who's played guitar for over 50 years and took lessons for over 15 years) said he could tell that Jay had an outstanding teacher.  He came to you excited about guitar but that excitement has only grown so thank you for that!

Being a mother of a very shy teenager I was looking for something to boost his confidence and overall self-esteem. My thoughts immediately turned to music. Since my son showed an interest in electric guitar that was the direction I chose to pursue. I knew the purchase of a guitar would be the easy part. I needed to find a music teacher that would work well with my son. I knew from experience that the wrong teacher could do more harm than good. When I mentioned my concerns there was one name that was immediately mentioned. Jon Reiser. I believe the best teachers are the ones who haven't forgotten their youth. They relate better with their students. I have every weekly lesson knowing I made the correct choice for my son. So if you're looking for someone with musical knowledge both vocal and instrumental, and also someone who will work with you at your pace so the joy of making music is not lost, I highly recommend Jon Reiser.

I began taking drum lessons from Jon Reiser early in middle school. He always was, and continues to be, a very professional, very competent musician. His teaching methods were always understandable and very thorough; starting with principles as simple as holding drumsticks properly. Another aspect of his curriculum that made my education so valuable was his choice of teaching materials and literature. The books he chose encouraged a wide variety of drum kit playing styles, as well as drilling basic snare drum rudiments. As a middle school aged kid, of course all I wanted was to play the drum set. Jon encouraged me to drill the rudimentary materials first, before the drum kit. Looking back now as a more mature musician, I see that those are the skills needed to become a good percussionist. I would just like to close by saying that Jon is a caring, responsible and knowledgeable educator, and anyone of any age or skill level, in my opinion, could benefit from his teaching.

"Mr. Reiser's teaching was invaluable as I sought to increase my drumming aptitude. His drum set lessons were extremely professional and something that I looked forward to every week. Thanks to his teaching, I was a successful drummer at Lincoln High School (including in jazz band, pep band, and marching band) and in college at a major university. If you are looking for a great drum teacher in the Manitowoc area, look no further than Mr. Reiser."

Best regards,

Eric

The cliché saying,”those who can’t, teach” does not apply to Mr. Reiser.  Not only are his musician skills remarkable but his teaching skills and style is of greatness.  I initially was taking lessons from an instructor through a music store in Green Bay.  The lessons were fine, I was learning (slowly) but there wasn’t that connection, the one on one relationship, or any caring about me as a person.  Then my neighbor found Mr. Reiser and I started taking lessons from him in middle school.  Even though I was absolutely terrible and immature, he still accepted the challenge.  I was the only female I knew of that played the drums.  Mr. Reiser built my confidence up so I wasn’t scared to play with and against the boys while in school.  He took the time to teach me fundamental concepts needed for any musician. Concepts that the public schools taught but I didn’t grasp and wasn’t spent any time with to make sure I understood.  Mr. Reiser took the time to teach about specific details that most instructors don’t think matter but it really does, like foot placement on the bass drum pedal.  I was successful in marching band, jazz band, and pep band because of my private lessons with him.  Mr. Reiser had lesson plans and goals for me to achieve but he also tied in what I was doing in school as well.  During competitions like solo ensemble, I know I wouldn’t have done so well (1st) without him including my pieces into our lessons.  Mr. Reiser took the time to get to know me as a person; he knew what was going on with me at school not only in band but other subjects too.  Sometimes I would talk to him about my friends and he would give me excellent advice.  Mr. Reiser was not just my private instructor but a role model, positive influence, and friend.  Mr. Reiser is too modest to mention this but one of his former students graduated from Georgetown and I attend law school.  His “kids” turned out very well.
