Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique founded by Dr M Usui in the early 20th century. The practice supports overall wellness; mentally, physically and spiritually. The method of receiving reiki is simple. The recipient remains clothed and lies on a couch. The practitioner then gently places their hands on or above the body. There is no massage or manipulation. Reiki can be used alongside other conventional or complementary treatment, often helping to provide emotional support during recovery.
Each individual experiences Reiki differently depending on their needs at the time. Benefits that have been reported by recipients include deep relaxation as well as promoting overall balance and harmony. Some people experience a sensation of heat, tingling, seeing colour. Whilst other can have an emotional response, indicating that shifts are taking place, allowing harmony to be restored.
Reiki is a safe and soothing treatment. It can be very beneficial when life seems tough by encouraging feelings of peace and centredness. Stress-reducing and minimising feelings of anxiety. Reiki is also very safe at any stages of pregnancy. It is important to note Reiki practitioners are not trained in diagnosis and will not predict any specific outcome from treatment. If you become concerned about your symptoms you must consult your GP.
