Adult Classes
Adult classes are available as enrollment series or drop-in classes and are 90 minutes long. Class genres include Hip Hop Fusion, Heels Performance, Jazz Fusion, Contemporary, Hip Hop Fundamentals and Ballet.
Ballet (Beginner) This class is structured as an advanced beginner class but it is open to all levels of beginners, including first-time-students. Rather than getting stuck on rudimentary fundamentals, I am passionate that students learn while experiencing the joy of moving their body fully in a ballet environment. Class always begins with a brief explanation and exploration of alignment principles, basic feet positions, and basic arm positions. Terminology, ballet etiquette, and ballet traffic patterns are taught on-the-go as we move from facing the barre, to a one-handed grip, and into simple center-work. One to two new steps are taught at barre every class and repeated freely during center work. Modifications are given throughout class to adjust for absolute beginners as well as advanced students, implementing a coordinated port de bras and épaulement.
Horton (Beginner/Intermediate) A dynamic and physically demanding experience rooted in the technique developed by Lester Horton. The class is structured to develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and expressive movement through a series of codified exercises and combinations. Flat-Backs, Laterals, Lunges, Contractions will push students to physical boundaries, and control movements and lines.
Heels Performance (Beginner) Step Into Your Power. This isn’t just a heels dance class, it’s an exercise of self-connection and freedom. Join us in a safe, empowering space where we move with intention, grace, and fire. Through sensual choreography, grounded movement, confidence-building techniques, and heel techniques. You’ll reconnect with your body, reclaim your power, and express your most authentic self, unapologetically. You’ll also learn how to perform, not just for others, but for yourself, owning every step with presence and purpose. This is your space to move freely, feel deeply, and celebrate the freedom of being fully you. No experience needed, just a desire to feel good in your own skin. Come as you are, leave feeling elevated, embodied, and unstoppable.
Tap (Beginner) Our beginner tap class focuses on learning tap dancing's fundamental steps, vocabulary, and musicality, using tap shoes to create rhythmic sound. Classes typically involve a warm-up, technique building through rhythm and syncopation, basic footwork, and choreography, emphasizing balance, coordination, and musical expression in a fun, supportive environment. Students should wear clothes you can move easily, such as jazz pants or athletic wear. Tap shoes are required for this class.
Hip Hop Fundamentals (Beginner/Intermediate) This beginner-level class introduces the fundamentals of Hip-Hop choreography, technique, and performance. Dancers will learn about the history and culture of Hip-Hop while practicing skills such as rhythm and musicality. This is the perfect space to let loose, build confidence, and enjoy yourself.
Tango (Beginner) Learn about balance, posture, basic musical education, and technique for tango movement, while improvising with a partner. Class vocabulary includes the tango “walk”, cunitas (rock steps), the follower’s cross, back ochos, basic navigational tools, and introductory level adornments. We encourage the study of both roles, role-switching, and dancing with a variety of partners. (Staying with one partner is also welcome).
Jazz THRILLER Flashmob (Intermediate) In collaboration with APAC, the Thriller jazz flashmob is geared to attack performance in two creative components: through studio rehearsals and video production. Over the course of several September practices, dancers will create the vision, characters, and choreography for the October performance. We will then share the flashmob dance portion with our online community and invite any interested dancers to join us in producing the final Thriller music video. The class will conclude with a professional video shoot and Halloween performance video release, providing the ultimate opportunity to perfect your skills and perform with other creatives at a high level. Registration closes on 9/26/25.
