About me: My name is Jason, and I'm a Senior at Staples High school. Some of my hobbies and interests include biking, exploring new places, exercising, and reading. My theme this year is regional foods of Southeast Asia that are not very common here in the United States. I specifically chose this theme to learn more about and how to cook foods and dishes that my grandfather may have made, and to learn more about my family's heritage and its connection with food. In this class, I hope to discover regional foods that are practical, healthy, and that I can make again, as well as improving my skills at creating foods more accurately from a recipe. What inspires me to cook are the memories of my grandfather and his food, as well as wanting to recreate dishes I find to be interesting, unique, and challenging to my knowledge of what food is.
Bite-sized Philosophy: Foods can convey memories, feelings, and emotions in a way not many words can.
