Mark Coty
Mark Leonard Coty has been an educator for 25 years. He is currently a Regional Coordinator for the Office of Mathematics Improvement for the Alabama Department of education. He has served as the K-5 District math for Montgomery Public Schools, K-5 AMSTI Specialist for region 8, and as a 4th and 5th grade math teacher at E.D. Nixon Elementary school. Mr. Coty was named teacher of the year in 2017 by Mathnasium of Montgomery and teacher of the year at E.D. Nixon Elementary school in 2012. He has found that through professional development many teachers and leaders have attained a deeper understanding of mathematics. He believes meaningful professional development gives teachers an opportunity to share best practices and ensure educators are implementing student-centered content that will prepare the learner for future STEM job opportunities.
His objective in education is to motivate 21st Century learners to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide an educational foundation that utilizes technology to promote a love for learning and doing mathematics.
