The story of my time before becoming your Senator isn't that different from most Americans. I was born in Miami on February 10, 1982, to my two loving parents, Darryl and Miriam. My Mom worked as a travel agent while my Dad pursued engineering. I look back fondly on my time growing up with an amazing family in the greatest country in the world and in the greatest state in the Union. I credit my family with me being the man I am today; along with the Catholic Church. The Cathedral of Saint Mary will forever be my mother church. I attended the University of Florida for my BA and graduated in 2004 and then went to the University of Miami for my JD which I completed in 2007. I married my high school sweetheart, and better half, Christine in 2008 and we were blessed with our daughter Audrey in 2011.
After college I worked mostly as a defense attorney in Miami before deciding enough was enough. I began to worry my daughter and others like her would inherit a diminished country. I joined the Republican Party and was appointed to fill a seat in the Dixie Assembly. Immediately my fellow legislators asked me to become Speaker of the Dixie Assembly which will forever be a tremendous honor. During my time there, I authored 23 pieces of legislation which was more than any other Assemblyman in the country in a comparable period of time. During the October State elections I was elected in my own right to DX-1, the district for Florida. It gave me tremendous pride to represent the area where I was born, raised, and still live. After serving for a bit I decided to run for Dixie Senator in a special election and was fortunate enough to be given a mandate by millions of Dixians. I've enjoyed my time in the Senate and being a Senator for the state I was born in is one of the greatest honors of my life. Being fortunate enough to become Senate Majority Leader is hopefully evidence of my colleagues trust in me. My work continues in the Senate and has now touched all parts of American life including state's rights, our constitution, the Presidency, the Supreme Court, and so much more.
Within the Republican Party, I've done all I can to encourage newer members the same way the former Chairman did when I joined. My vision of the party is a broad tent right-wing party that stands for an essential core of conservatism. I soon was elected Chief Whip, became interim Vice-Chairman, and then was elected Chairman of the party which is more than I ever hoped for and dreamed of. Even though I've since stepped down as Chairman it was because I believe the party should give others a try. Plus, the extra time to focus on Dixie is a nice bonus too!
