Attendance: Athletes that miss school for any reason except a Doctors Visit (note required), School Event, or School Counsel may not practice/compete. If the athlete forgets to scan in to a class, the athlete must get the teacher to adjust the records. If there is a Family Emergency that may cause the athlete to be late, please see Mr. Yager. Additional Information can be found on the School District Website: https://www.rsd.k12.wi.us/rahs/Code%20of%20Conduct.pdf
Per Athletic Office:
RAHS Activities Code Attendance Policy
ATTENDANCE: A student may participate in a co-curricular activity only if in attendance the entire day of the event (practice and/or contest) unless other arrangements are made through the Principal’s and/or Activities Director’s office prior to the event. He/she is expected to attend school for the entire day following the event. If not, the same restrictions apply as stated above.
Excuses, which provide for exceptions to the attendance rule :
• family emergencies
• prearranged professional appointments (examples below)
● medical appointments
● dental appointments
● orthodontic appointments
● clinical appointments
● school-sponsored trips
● Funerals
● early dismissals for school sponsored activities
● exercising of voting rights
NOTE : Deer hunting is NOT an exception.
Behavior: The Coaches expect a positive attitude that consistently exudes Sportsmanship: Support of Teammates, the Competition, and Judges at practices and meets. We are role models for our school and community. We also expect positive Sportsmanship from our spectators as well. Heckling/Openly Complaining of judges will NOT be tolerated (your Asst. Coach is also a Judge). The coaches will file an inquiry if they believe something was not awarded and should have been. With the nature of this sport, you will see a score you are not happy with. If you are concerned, please speak with the Coaches directly. Coach Brenna also judges and will be able to address concerns over a score at a meet. There is a lot that goes into scoring a routine. Please see the Scoring page on our website.
Cuts: The Head Coach reserves the right to make cuts and any cuts would be decided at the end of the 1st week of practice. Any cuts will be communicated to the AD, Athlete, and Parents. This may be determined not only by skill level but attitude and work ethic in the gym.
Grades: All Athletes must have passing grades after the 15th day of the the season starting. Grades are reviewed on Wednesdays by the Athletic Dept and communicated to the Head Coach. If an athlete is not passing, the Athlete may practice while working to get their grade to a passing level but will NOT be allowed to compete.
Meets: Gymnasts may not necessarily complete at a meet. There are limits to the numbers of gymnasts that can compete per event at a meet. Coaches may also decide to have a gymnast, who is typically Varsity, complete JV on an event or all events at a meet or not compete at all. This will be determined by how the gymnast is practicing. We cannot have a gymnast compete if mentally they are not ready (see Simone) or their body isn't ready or their skills are not ready. It becomes dangerous and could cause an injury.
Practices: The gymnast is expected to be at all scheduled practices unless she is not feeling well or family emergency (also see School Attendance Policy). Please stay home if you are sick. We would like to receive prior notice if a practice is to be missed. Missing too many practices (unrelated to illness) could cause an Varsity gymnast to not Letter. If the practice immediately prior to a competition is missed for any reason, coaches reserve the right to not allow the gymnast to compete. Coaches have to consider safety of the gymnast and if we feel they will be able to safely compete after missing practice(s). Speak to the Head Coach if there are concerns about a missed practice and not being able to compete.
