how to prepare for your Sophomore Year

College and Career Center:


Visit with the College & Career Center to become familiar with the services offered and learn how to evaluate interests and career options.


Naviance:


Naviance is a powerful online tool for students to research colleges and scholarships. Play around in Naviance to become with the features available. Become familiar with the SuperMatch feature to explore colleges that meet your potential career plans. Add them to the “Colleges I’m thinking about” list so that you'll be notified when they visit our campus. (Remember, colleges on this list are for your eyes only and can be deleted an any time. You don't need to solidify a college list until the fall of your Senior year.)



Career Exploration: 


Start to think about what interests you, which occupations meet those interests, and what education is required. We will host our Career Conversations series in the spring for an opportunity to have insight in many exciting career areas.


Testing:


Attend our College Testing Information night on November 29th, at 6:00 pm. Some schools may require tests, be test optional, or be test blind!


Things you can do year round

Participation:


Continue your participation in school and community extracurricular activities.


Academics:


 Do your best at school. Maintain excellent attendance.


Exploration:


If you are ready, you can visit college and tech school campuses when travelling on vacation or sporting events. Take an official tour, eat in the dining commons, grab a school newspaper, speak with a student.

Family and friends are important.

Get involved:

Work, intern, volunteer, or shadow a professional. This will help you identify what interests you. Stay active in your extracurricular activities.
