The Next Generation of Explorers: Inspire, Engage, Educate, Employ. "We must not lose the will to pursue daring new goals, encourage Scouts like you to dream, and equip them with the educational tools to pursue their aspirations. Our future depends on it. Go for your NOVA and SUPERNOVA Awards. Go, BSA!"
- Dr. Bernard Harris: Astronaut, Physician, Entrepreneur
There are multiple NOVA Awards for Cub Scouts. Each award covers one component of STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
The SUPERNOVA Award (endorsed by NASA and Dr. Bernard Harris, a former astronaut and the BSA's national STEM spokesperson) is designed to encourage and recognize in-depth superior achievement in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). Such as understanding scientific theory research.
Pack 8's GOAL is to mentor and encourage more Cub Scouts to pursue STEM-related fields and high-tech careers. Most of all, making Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics fun, and help our future leaders prepare for life.
