Filmmakers receive a non‑exclusive, non‑commercial license to adapt one published short story (not a novel) by Mord McGhee into a short film.
The license costs $1, paid once via PayPal or BuyMeACoffee, as a symbolic gesture to keep the program accessible.
After that, the door closes.
Filmmakers have one year from the date of signing to complete their adaptation.
No ads, no paid streaming, no commercial exploitation.
The filmmaker may submit the film to festivals, competitions, and showcases that do not require commercial rights.
No profit, no investor shares, no revenue promises.
The film may be shown:
At festivals
In private screenings
On a filmmaker’s portfolio site
On a non‑monetized YouTube/Vimeo upload
It may not be:
Sold
Monetized
Put on paid platforms
Used in commercial advertising
The filmmaker owns the film they create, but not the underlying story.
“Based on the short story by Mord McGhee. Licensed through Red Ink Adaptation House.”
Filmmakers may not:
Register domain names using the story title
Create merchandise
Use the story title as a brand
Misrepresent the project as commercially authorized
The license automatically terminates if:
The filmmaker violates the non‑commercial terms
The film is monetized
The story is used outside the permitted scope
Both parties sign:
Mord McGhee (Licensor)
The filmmaker (Licensee)
Digital signatures are accepted.
