My name is Vida Gomez and softball has been a huge and amazing part of my life since I was six years old. The best memories that I have made have been on that field no matter what team I was on or who I was playing with. Although I have been on multiple teams in the past i’m lucky enough to have been able to be with the same team for the past five years. Through softball I have been able to grow life long friendships that I will cherish forever. During my years of playing I have learned and am still learning qualities such as hard work, discipline, leadership, and the importance of working together. Another thing I have taken away from my experiences so far in softball is that others can help you break out of your shell. I remember when I had first started playing softball I was a very shy girl. I hated talking to people or working in groups because I was too scared to do it. Softball was the one thing that broke me out of my shell. The girls on my team and my coaches are why I am not still a shy person anymore. Now I am very extroverted and willing to try anything. Now that I am like this I try my best to help out with other girls who are in a similar situation to how I was way back at the start of my softball career. I take these qualities with me everywhere wether its in school, at home, or on the field. It is qualities and experiences like these that have allowed me to be the dedicated, confident, and driven person I am today.
