Red Deer for Palestine protests every Sunday from 12:00 - 1:00 PM
We are an inclusive, multi-faith organization from Red Deer (Treaty 6 & 7) calling on the community to stand against Israel's genocidal actions in occupied Palestine. Join us!
We acknowledge Treaty Six territory to the North of the Red Deer River. Treaty Six territory is the ancestral and traditional territory of the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux (sawl-toh), Nakota Sioux (sue). We also acknowledge Treaty Seven territory to the South of the Red Deer River. Treaty Seven territory is the ancestral and traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy: Kainai (g-ai-nah), Piikani (pee-kah-nee), Siksika (seeg-see-kah) as well as the Tsuu T’ina (soot-tenna) First Nation and Stoney Nakoda First Nation.
We acknowledge the land that Red Deer is now on is also traditional territory of the Metis, and we are part of Region Three with Metis Nation of Alberta. We acknowledge and give thanks to all the many First Nations, Metis and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries. We are grateful for Elders and traditional Knowledge Keepers who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. Recognizing and acknowledging the traditional land is an act of reconciliation and a show of gratitude to those whose territory we reside on.
Since November of 2023, citizens of Red Deer have been gathering on Sundays to protest against the genocide. We currently meet on the corner of Gaetz Avenue and 50th (Ross) Street (in front of City Hall Park) from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
Join us this weekend and join our mailing list to stay updated on future protests and events!
Palestine Action Edmonton has called for a national day of action. While we don’t have the numbers for a march here in Red Deer, we will gather at our usual spot for a protest to demand an end to the forced famine in Gaza. We’ll have educational materials and bring our pots & pans to make noise. Let’s raise our voices for Palestine.
Afterwards, we’ll be joining the Rally Against Provincial Government Policy Defunding Vital Local Organizations, hosted by Queer Neighbours Society at City Hall (1:00 PM). We encourage everyone to join this rally to stand with Turning Point and the Sendero Centre, but we understand if folks can only commit to one action.
Let's make noise, learn, and stand for justice here and abroad.
