We are an inclusive, multi-faith organization from Red Deer (Treaty 6 & 7) calling on the community to stand against Israel's genocidal actions in occupied Palestine. Join us!
We acknowledge Treaty Six territory to the North of the Red Deer River. Treaty Six territory is the ancestral and traditional territory of the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux (sawl-toh), Nakota Sioux (sue). We also acknowledge Treaty Seven territory to the South of the Red Deer River. Treaty Seven territory is the ancestral and traditional territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy: Kainai (g-ai-nah), Piikani (pee-kah-nee), Siksika (seeg-see-kah) as well as the Tsuu T’ina (soot-tenna) First Nation and Stoney Nakoda First Nation.
We acknowledge the land that Red Deer is now on is also traditional territory of the Metis, and we are part of Region Three with Metis Nation of Alberta. We acknowledge and give thanks to all the many First Nations, Metis and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries. We are grateful for Elders and traditional Knowledge Keepers who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. Recognizing and acknowledging the traditional land is an act of reconciliation and a show of gratitude to those whose territory we reside on.
Since November, citizens of Red Deer have been gathering on Sundays to protest against the genocide. We meet on the corner of 19th Street and Gaetz Avenue (in front of Cilantro & Chive) from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Art Gallery Fundraiser
Red Deer for Palestine is organizing an inclusive, intersectional, multi-faith Art Gallery Fundraiser featuring significant art installations, including a variety of local art for sale (minimum of 50% donated to UNRWA), a sensory tent and rubble display, and interactive art booth, and a multi-pointed discussion with brief speeches from both Palestinian and Jewish perspectives. Light concessions will be sold. The Gallery aims to raise awareness, pressure politicians, and support relief efforts. Proceeds go to UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency), an agency providing relief and humanitarian aid in Palestine. The Art Gallery Fundraiser will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 2PM until 7PM, located at the Pioneer Lodge in Parkvale, Downtown Red Deer.
