Important Handling and Care Instructions:
The Elysian Garden® Rusted Orb has a natural rusted surface patina.You may want to handle the orb with gloves as the rust may rub off on your hands (and/or clothing). The rust will not harm the plants in the container or the landscape soil.
How is the orb rusted?
The rust on your orbs is created with a natural solution that jump-starts the rusting process.
Will it hold up in the rain?
Some surface rust may wash off in heavy rain, leaving a beautiful natural rusted patina with the undertones of the natural steel. After the rain, the finish will continue to rust.
Rust residue typically drips into the container. However, If you are concerned about rust stains on concrete, like how soil can stain concrete, place your containers elsewhere or make sure the edges of the orb are within the container's opening.
How can I create a fully rusted patina?
If you prefer a rust finish over the entire orb surface, mix a solution of 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide and one tablespoon of salt. Use a paper towel, dip it into the solution, and then wipe it on the hoops of the orb; this will make the entire surface area rust. The surface will continue to rust naturally over time.
