Meet Patrick, the owner of Red Barn White House® LLC. and the popular Elysian Garden® Collection. Each piece is hand-crafted by Patrick himself. Learn how the shop got its unique name.
How did your come to make the Elysian Garden® Collection?
"I've always enjoyed making things. The best part is figuring out how to make something. I enjoy the challenge and the process of creating, and I take pride in the outcome. That is why when my wife, an avid ornamental gardener, asked me if I could make her a set of orbs for her garden containers, I thought, I bet I could make those. So I gave it a go, and the Elysian Garden® Obelisk Orb Collection and Red Barn White House® LLC was born.”
"I came up with the name, Red Barn White House®, because it was sentimental, and farms and gardens go hand-in-hand. My wife and I have fond memories of our grandparents' farms and gardens. I also wanted an elegant and sophisticated name like the Elysian Garden® Obelisk Orbs I make. About a year after starting the business, I created the Elysian Garden® Ornamental Arch for individuals who want to dress up their rectangular ornamental garden containers."
Patrick grew up in Wisconsin, where there are a plethora of big red barns but having a white house was not always the norm. White paint was tinted with white lead and was hard to come by. White paint was more expensive than red paint, which was tinted with plentiful ferrous oxide or rust. White paint was also more popular for houses because of its association with cleanliness and purity.
What else would you like to tell people?
"I want to thank people for taking an interest and for their business. I hope the Elysian Garden® Orbs and Arches bring your home gardens or business a sense of sophistication and beauty that you would find on a farm with a red barn and a white house."
